A Childhood Memory!

Yes... this piccy is of me when I was little having a nynybys!

I was going through all my poems and stuff that I had written years ago, and I came across this one that I thought I might share with ya's !

I wrote this poem when I was about 10 - 11 years old, but that's all I'll say for now... have a read of it and then I will explain!...

A SAD STORY

I’d like to tell a story, a story like no other,
It is about someone who was a Daughter and a Mother.
She spoke another language, and couldn’t speak her mind,
She always kept to herself and was never unkind.

Her children were killed not long ago, her Mother murdered too,
She saw the whole thing happen, there was nothing she could do.
She’d stay out of peoples way, and traveled all alone,
She’d hide in dark places and had nothing to call her own.

She had no friends or family, no one knew she was alive,
Her only goal in life, was just simply to survive.
No body ever knew her; this really makes me cry,
The only time I saw her, was when I watched her die.

This isn’t just some poem; this story is very real,
Now take some time to think, how does this make you feel?
Well I don’t know about you, but it makes me really sad,
It makes me feel so selfish, of the bad life that she’s had.

Now there is much more to this story, and I think you just might find,
That once you read this next bit you’ll probably change your mind.
You see, she was a cockroach; she didn’t have a name,
Now ask yourself this honestly - do you still feel the same?

Now that you know the truth, you probably feel relief,
You may think she was just some pest, not even worth the grief.
But to me she was much more; she was just like you or me,
The only difference about her was that she was treated differently.

If this was someone you knew, it’d feel like a nightmare,
But at least they’d be remembered, and people would really care.
For a cockroach its different, no one really gives a shit,
They are treated like a piece of scum, and I’m so fed up with it.

Well I want you to remember, next time you see one flee,
That cockroach is running, because it just wants to be free.
Now you could either stomp it, or kill it with some spray,

But it’s not out there to hurt you, so just let it run away!

Giggle!

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about obsessed with all animals great and small eh?!

I can laugh about this now (but I will still never harm any creature) but at the time, I was just a child, and I remember being in the kitchen when Mum spotted a cockroach and grabbed the spray to kill it!

I watched it die, and my heart completely broke! I was so distraught, that I ran and locked myself in my room and bawld my eyes out! It was then that I picked up a pen and wrote this poem!!!

Go on! Laugh at me! :-)

It only took me a few lines to realise this was not a person you were talking about but you still surprised me with it being a cockroach. I have only ever seen one for real once in my life.

yes you are a clever girl to write like that so young and with such feeling and compassion. long may your compassion remain with you.

OMG...how sweet, Giggles!

I wouldn't laugh at you at all, because I've got to be honest....I too have thought about this SAME THING!

About a bug, or any creature being killed, and then their family and friends not knowing what happened to them. I mean, it's like they just don't show up for dinner one night!?!?

Of course, you have read on one of my posts that I have killed bugs on occasion...but ooooh...this post makes me rethink that!!

Thanks, Giggles!

Hey....and I LOVE the photo of you.

It's so CUTE!!!!

P.s. Wonderful poem, dear one!

Eeeeew, I hate those little buggers. I'm afraid I'd be the one going after it with my shoe. SPLAT!

Can you send me your snail-mail address please? I've got all these snails, wasps, ants, spiders, daddy-long-legs and sundry creepy-crawlies bugging me, so if I'm not allowed to whack them I'll just send them to you, m'kay?

Brilliant poem for a ten-year-old. Or twenty-year-old, even.

Hi babes...sorry sweetie...bugs...bug me.

I stomp on them as if dancing to an Irish jig.

If they come around... I spay them. If they value their own skin...they better get out of town cause there ain't a town big enough for me and them. Spiders come a close second.

cockroaches...EEEWWWWWWWW!

I feel like feaky now...like something crawled on me...whew, it was just my coat sleeve. :D

Ciao babe...Oh and that was a hell of a story for a child to write.

You are so sweet...I just want to give you a BIG HUG...imagine, caring for a bugs feeling. You my dear...sparkle.

Ciao for real hehehe,
